Software Developer Role
We have a permanent vacancy within our development department for a developer. We currently specialise in two Retail Management Software (EPOS) solutions and have approximately 150 clients, servicing approximately 900 stores in the UK alone and we require a experienced developer to join our growing company.
The ideal candidate will report directly to the IT Director, be London or home counties based within commuting distance of South West London.
Job Specification
- Proficient skills in requirements analysis and documentation. Updating of project related records in our CRM system
- Design and coding ideally Delphi/Pascal or C# sharp or other demonstrable coding/scripting skills.
- Understanding of DLLs and COM (MS Component object model) development. Working with 3rd party SDK and APIs.
- Good knowledge of SQL and Data modeling. Both DML (Data Manipulation) and DDL (Data Definition).
- Good understanding of XML and its DOM (Document Object Model).Experience of Web Services a plus.
- Liaise with customers and internal resources.
- Good dry sense of humor would help.
Skills and Interests
The right candidate must have the following skills:
- An understanding of the typical retail work flows and business processes
- Worked in a software development role previously (ideally in a retail or EPOS environment)
- Ability to quickly build a rapport with customers and exceed service expectations
- Liaising with staff at all levels of a client organisation;
- Provide independent and objective advice on the use of IT;
- Preparing documentation and presenting progress reports to customers in written or oral reports;
- Organising training for users and other consultants;
- Well-organised and thorough, even under pressure.
- Excellent communication and listening skills.
- Helping clients with change-management activities;
- Good knowledge of EPOS hardware and peripherals
Nice to have
- French
Experience in similar role is absolutely essential.
Training
Training is usually provided in-house and candidates are expected to become proficient in the use of all software solutions. Our motto is “hit the ground running”!
Annual Income
- Basic salary starting from £30 000 plus OTE depending on experience. Generous holiday allowance (25 days after first year) and usual benefits apply.
Hours and Environment
Full-time, you'll usually work 37.5 hours a week, you may be required to work beyond these hours from time to time. Your role will also require you to travel to visit clients and this may involve overnight stays.
